Ribbon delete for 2007 FX/HO with MR1 engine

I have been reading about the Ribbon delete. Is this something that is on Yamaha engines newer than the one I have?

    Thanks

Yep, velocity stacks and an aftermarket free flow air filter and your set.

I have seen pics of a ribbon type metal insert being removed from Yamaha jet boats and skis, but the engine in the pics looks different than the engine on mine. As such, I was wondering the MR1 engine has this type of metal ribbon inserted behind the throttle body?

The metal ribbon is effectively a flame arrestor and causes a slight amount of restriction. The differences you're seeing is the standard vx only has one long intake plenum with one throttle body at the front feeding all four cylinders. The fx has 4 throttle bodies, one for each cylinder.

The guys on the jet boat forum talk about the ribbon delete quite often. I'm assuming that the newer 1.8 engines have the ribbon in both the ho and svho versions.
