How to bypass 2nd waterbox 2008 stx f15?

    Bypass 2nd waterbox 2008 stx f15

I want to remove the 2nd waterbox on my 2008 stx f15. Need DIY help with instructions. I understand it helps performance and sound, plus I do not see the reason for a 2nd waterbox if not necessary. Is it just a matter of getting a pipe from waterbox 1 to the exit pipe? Is it a mod worth to do? Any help will be appreciated.

I believe itís there for sound reduction. My 09 only has one. Riva and R&D sell a kit to go from the first waterbox to the through hull exit. You probably wonít see any performance gains by removing it. Really the weight savings is the gain.

You won't gain much, at best I gained about 2 or 3 TENTHS of a mph & some noise, its not terribly loud, its a job to find all the parts to make it work too.

When I removed mine, I used one of these aluminum "U" bends. Just connect the two hoses with it. It's a 2.75" (70mm) "U" bend.

Found it on fleabay for thirty bux delivered. Some use the black plastic waste / drain pipe (sewage pipe) found at Lowes / Home Depot, but I would rather have metal in exhaust vs: plastic. The price of this aluminum U bend is same as parts and pieces of plastic, it's metal and a bunch easier..

Fleabay ad says don't use for exhaust, but I gather they mean automotive exhaust

the point of the second water box is too cool the gasses , cooling the gasses that far back helps with fuel consumption , understand your motor before you start fvcking with shyt , as posted you will not get a performance gain ,if anything it will run inefficient, without a ECU remap you could very well do damage to your motor over a long term... plenty of ways to make that motor zing without making it loud !!!!

You do realize the gasses cool much faster when not contained in an enclosed metal can, correct? Also, shortening / reducing restriction to a certain degree also and keeping gasses hotter until they exit also promotes a higher velocity of gasses and aids in extracting gasses on the exhaust stroke of a 4 stroke engine. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I imagine the main reason for eliminating the 2nd box on a stocker engine is to get a little more exhaust tone. It neither adds, nor subtracts HP to any appreciable level, nor will it hurt the fuel consumption. And the exhaust note change is very mild. I wonder why Kawi eliminated box #2 themselves.

We not doing BBC's with a hairy cam and thru hull exhaust here. Plus, it's a 4 stroke, not a 2.
