You can do resistance tests on the coils using an ohmmeter. If it's out of spec from that test then you probably have a bad coil. If it's in spec then you might have a good coil. Directions can be found in the service manual.

I had done the same things you did though, bypass the water temp sensor, thought maybe it had a low oil/fuel limp mode so I bypassed those also, even checked my crank indexing to see if it had shifted. In the end, it was electrical.
If you don't have your velocity stacks on there right with the little rubber notch in the center of the vent in the top of the carb it would make everything happen that's happening to you it's what I did before I realize this

So you're saying the rubber boots with the long needles in them have a correct up and down side?

You know when you take the square box off the top of your carburetor covers you got those rubber tubes that come off your carbs at the base of them there's a little hole that's Square that if the rubber boot isn't centered in it blocks off all the air going to them those little holes make sure that the little rubber block is dead center of that hole

Okay I'll check it tonight. That makes a little more sense. I'm sure I'll understand once I see it

So two of the tubes were perfectly line up. The center turn was just slightly offset. like about 10 degress offset or less. Does that make that much of a difference?
