Re: 96 XP Engine Rebuild and Carb Rebuild problems

I haven't tried it in the reserve position, just the main. I will do that tomorrow though. It will rev out of the water but it won't rev in the water, it just dies and yes it just dies when I try to pull the choke out a bit and try to rev it.

If it also dies out in the reserve position pull the plugs immediately and see if there are water droplets on the electrode.

Re: 96 XP Engine Rebuild and Carb Rebuild problems

While rebuilding the carbs the first time I didn't take the low and high adjustment needles out and clean them nor the jet. I did that today and you could tell that there was a bit of blockage
in the orifices. I get them all cleaned and put back together then onto the pop off pressure test. It popped about 30, but what was strange is that there was air coming out of the side of the fuel pump
also. That is not normal correct? Keep in mind I ordered the cheapy rebuild kits for $15.00 a piece off eBay.

The gasket should keep the pump side sealed up. You sure you got all the old gasket material off the pump cover? 30 psi should be just fine. Some blockage in the low speed circuit would definately cause your symptoms. I smear thick tacky grease on the adjuster threads before i stick them back in to keep them airtight.

Myself, you can feel the air coming out a lot and I am sure I got the gaskets in the right order. Is there a diagram somewhere of the proper order of the gaskets for my carbs? This kit came with a lot of extra ones.

Re: 96 XP Engine Rebuild and Carb Rebuild problems

Google mikuni sbn exploded and youll find the diagrams. I've used literally hundreds of aftermarket carb kits with no issues but i stay away from the no name ones. Jetlyne, Winderosa, and WSM have all worked fine for me.
