    Probably another stupid question. But aren't I right that the hoods are different between the two skis? Why? Our '88 X2 650 looks like the light green older ski. I am not familiar with the hood on the new ski.
    new hull I got was copy of the jap version. Lots of people do it. Makes it look nice and smooth. It has what you would call a shaved hood, shaved gas fill and dash fill. Green ski is a 86 which was the only year the hood was different then 87-95 ( 86 had vent in center and side vent was couple inches off, went directly in hood and not into hood ducts)

    I really like the SXi OEM Keihin dual 40s. They have an undeserved bad reputation, so you can find them used pretty cheap. They work really well with the stock jetting:

    135 Main and 1 & 1/2 turns
    72 Pilot and 1 & 3/4 turns
    50 Middle jet (smallest made)

    Pop Off @ 26 lbs
