    TPS function on 951

Is the function of the TPS to retard or advance the timing?

This thread says it advances >> http://www.pwctoday.com/showthread.php?t=345044&page=2

This thread says it retards >> http://www.pwctoday.com/showthread.php?t=232644

I recall reading that the purpose of the TPS was to control when the RAVE solenoids open. Which is correct?

It advances, you can see it on the graph on the first thread you posted.

The MPEM controls the raves which I am sure the TPS plays a part in them opening.

Ditto on what Grumpy says. Would like to add that the MEPM is probably also looking at the rate of change of the signal voltage, as well as the final voltage to adjust fuel delivery. It would be different if you ease the throttle up slowly, as opposed to snapping the throttle open rapidly.

On my 951 I've noted the control solenoid opening the RAVE valves very consistently at a specific rpm. I'm trying to recall what that rpm is (I haven't ridden this season at all)... 6000, 6400 or somewhere 'round there.

Ok the graph shows it advances at more than 80% throttle, but I noticed at the bottom of the graph that it says "Property of MicroTouch", so is that for their CDI?

rdjeep - there would be no rate of change on a TPS for a carb 951, there are only 2 possibilities 0V and 5V...maybe for a DI 951?

More likely the programmer of the software that generated the graph.

One never quite knows what aspects of sensed operations goes into which calculation for fuel mapping and timing adjustment!

Its curve #1 from a Microtouch CDI. Its the Curve that is equivalent to stock.
