2006 STX 15F New to me Water in Cylinders not it oil

Hi I got this at a good buy because previous owner said it kept dying..... thats all the info I was given

It was a former Rental has 755 hours is SUPER CLEAN and starts soon as you hit button ..... oh and it was 1250 bucks so I bought it

I took it out first time and ran as follows

Rode and stopped over a 1.5 hr period
6200 RPM and 54mph then gradually went to high 40s

Each time I shut off got continually harder to start I thought low battery but read on

Slight vibration at low throttle and idle

Finally the symptoms started getting worse and I knew it was time to head to the dock and pull ski and start some checks
I was going about 28mph and let off to go into wakeless zone and it died and of course wouldnt turn over.... I knew at that point what it was.

Got out of the water and pulled the plugs and cleared the hydrolock out of all 4 cylinders and got it running and lubed again.... no water in oil at this point no milk even on the oil cap.

    Questions.....
Where to start I read water box..... I have main one on right side of hull and the 2nd on left side and all the fittings just ahead..... used boxes avail??

My speed im thinking its related to this issue?

    Help and advice appreciated

How did you get the ski back to shore once it shut down ?? Did you flush it when you got home ???

More than likely your exhaust pipe is rotted out on the inside.

swam it into the marina..... Flush it? I wasnt in salt water

How do I determine which exhaust is rotted out?

Take it off & pressure test it,the part bolted to the motor.

Just asking questions so I can help you..... When a ski is towed it can fill motor with water..... & flushing without the motor running can fill it with water....

I appreciate the questions and knew about both..... thats why I declined help and just swam it in.

Im just asking the 2 waterboxes do they have ANYTHING at all to do with the potential for water to get that far up and into the motor?

The exhaust pipe makes sense in that the water jackets are what corrodes correct?

The water box arent your culprit but we replace a lot of head pipes due to internal corrosion in the water jacket that allows water to get in the exhaust ports filling the motor with water.

99% of the skis I work on are saltwater so I see the worst.

also is the fact that with the breach.... thats letting some of the exhaust pressure off which affects speed and that last 900-1000 rpm that seems to be missing?

Thats just the lower part, the one that fails is the upper part that is bolted to the head......

Used is ok as long as it doesnt leak.
