How to replace the drain plugs on an 06 VX?

A couple of my drain plugs are cracked and I think causing slow leaks into my hull, so I'm trying to replace them, but I can't seem to get a socket on nuts from inside the hull! Is there some trick to doing this? Do you just need a REALLY LONG ratchet extension? Is there some tool that allows you to loosen then through the hole from the back of the ski?

    Thanks!
    Jeff

First I would verify thats where the leak is coming from.....

Dry hull out & float ski with seat off & see where water is coming from. The VX hulls are known for leaking thru the driveshaft cab where it passes thru the hull. OR you can prop the front of the ski up & start to fill with water & see where the water comes out, take battery out so it doesnt go under water & use common sense to not fill too much to start covering the engine or any electric componets.

If the drain plugs are your leak then yes its a matter of getting the nuts off on the inside (8mm) & no there is not a special wrench

I was able to replace them using one of these!

I put a piece of tape on one side of the wrench to hold the nut in place so it wouldn't fall off and that worked very well. Glad to have those cracked and faded things off my skis!

I hope this helps someone else in the future.
