Re: How to tow a 06 VX in water?

I may be wrong but I am not convinced that I am wrong, because of the way the system is designed. I will find out as time passes. I will take a photo of the venturi when I get a chance or just look inside your nozzle and you will see it. Mine is about a 5/16" diameter tube pointing in the direction of the water jet flow

Re: How to tow a 06 VX in water?

My service manual does not show direction of coolant flow. Can you post a document please? or a photo of the info in your manual? That would be helpful for myself and others that read this. No urgency.

Thank you Lee and Grumpy for the spirited debate. I wish someone else would chime in because now I don't know what to believe. I'm surprised Yamaha doesn't put a value of some sort to prevent the confusion.

    Discharge - Coolant, FX140

Here is what is happening on my machine. Item 33 is protruding into the water jet stream and acting as a venturi. Cooling water is being drawn out of the system here. Here is a test I performed. I took the fitting off my garden hose (example shown in photo - part 67x). I inserted it into the back flush fitting (Item 75) and defeated the one way valve that exist within the back flush fitting. I then launched my jet ski at the dock and started the engine with the seat off. Water discharged through the back flush fitting Item 75, until I removed the garden hose fitting. My conclusion is that water comes out of those two lines (there are additional discharge lines we can discuss later) when the unit is in the water and the engine is running.

    Venturi - Reference

Venturi Design: On the FX140 the Motive would be the Water Jet. The suction represents Item 33 on previous schematic. The discharge represents the Water Jet discharge

I am sure others will chime in. Just clamp all hoses until you are sure of which specific one(s) to clamp
