what size needle/seat came standard in a mikuni sbn44 for the 61x superjet? 1.5 or 2.0 ... I may just order a brand new needle seat so i know this one is good to go/brand new... that could possibly be the issue on my 44 thats on my 650..

Re: 1990 Square Nose SuperJet Build

So I had some time to do the 61x swap today.

    We were able to:

    1. Remove Old exhaust, Fuel tank and water box
    2. Remove Old 6R7 engine and ebox
    3. Clean Engine bay nad all components going back into hull(battery tray, waterbox, fuel Tank, etc...)
    4. Replace Midshaft Assy
    5. Install New 61x engine
    6. Install Factory Bpipe
    7. Run all new fuel lines
    8. Install new primer and lines
    9. Install Water lines, FCV, and pisser

Get all that done and go to start it - crank, no start. Also Upon trying to start it, the starter solenoid from the donor engine got stuck closed... So had to swap out starter solenoids from the old ebox. Tried starting again - Still crank but no start.. checked fuel- good, checked spark- good, checked compression good. AT this point I was tired and pissed off... Then i remembered I rebuilt the carb and didnt set the idle screw. It was completely shut and letting no air in. My mistake.... ....opened it up and started right up, Thankfully. I was getting nervous for a second! lol...

Here are some picture of the end result. I took these prior to adding in the flush kit "T".

Didnt have time to put on my new wetjet flame arrestor setup(need to get proper mounting bolts for it) or Put it back in the water. Next time I am up at the lakehouse I will do both and hopefully then dial in the carb and b pipe. Thanks to everyone that has helped in answering questions or me purchasing parts from you for this build. Could not have done any of this without PWCtoday and xh2o members!

Ski is in winter storage.... Place where I store it/ bought it from, traded me a impeller upgrade of my choice(installed) for all the original 650 engine/electronics(along with free winter storage for the year and winterizing)...Also was going to check the pump housing/wear ring and if need be replace it with one in better shape(for free)... thought that was a pretty good deal and saved me from having to sell the 650 stuff separate.. still deciding between the 9/15 hooker or the 10/16 hooker.... im leaning towards the 10/16 hooker....need to decide and let him know before the warm season comes so it is 100% ready for this year

we also found on our last day riding that I still had an issue where it seemed it was dying out due to fuel starvation upon fast/choppy riding.... We finally found the culprit!... damn "ON" pickup tube has a crack in it at around the 3/4 full mark... upon hitting waves, that crack must pickup air, causing our sputter/die concern... checked my reserve pickup and no cracks/leaks found- ran perfect on reserve.... so I will be ordering a new pickup assy sooner or later...

I like this build. I recently picked up an old SN to tinker with and will be following this build closely.

New season update: Decided to go with the 9/15 hooker prop but upon my guy installing it, he noticed my stator housing had some damage to it so I he is in the process on replacing that as well...so basically the only thing I didn't replace on this ski is the actual fuel tank and the driveshaft! haha.... brand new 1990 Superjet! Should be ready for some next weekend fun! had some custom decals made as well... had the 2007 superjet logo made to fit and in my colors.. along with some new warning decals- old ones didn't come off nicely and I don't feel like repainting ski(just yet! ) also need to install my blowsion fuel pickup kit to fix my stock defective one.... should be a good year of riding!
