94 polaris slt750 water box getting very hot

I just picked up a slt750 that runs great aside from the watrerbox getting way too hot. It gets hot enough to melt the cable that's lying near it ( reverse cable?). The cylinders get warm but no warmer than my properly running seadoo xp 650, and the pipe is nice and cool. I've pulled all the hoses and found no blockages, and they were properly routed. I did remove the thermostat and the spring/ plastic piece in the thermostat housing. Any ideas?

Are you melting the rubber exhaust hose that leads into the waterbox? or the one that leaves it? If no, your exhaust temps are probably fine.

Did you also pull all your cooling lines to make sure there are no blockages in them?

If all of the above is OK, and its running good, maybe re-route your cable?

Neither inlet nor the outlet boot is melting, yes I removed all the hoses and looked/blew thru them. I also checked the small nozzles on the pipe for blockages. I can reroute the cable, the temp of the water box just scared me. I cxan touch the one on my seadoo 650 even after a wot run.
