you mean to say 4t burns less fuel the warmer the water/engine is right?

What happens is the ski will run fine all day long & then when they drop down to idle the water pressure drops & the water in the motor starts to boil & then it starts shooting stem out the pisser.

This is in Fla where summer water temps are 80-90 already. All my experience is with the sit downs but I am sure Kawi has done nothing to change it in a standup.
My service manual shows the water routing and most of it goes to the exhaust as you said. Water is hot in Houston too. I plan to purchase the r&d cooling system.

    Thanks for all the input.

Have you seen how hot late model car and light truck engines are made to operate at?

    I remember 140 thermostats in the '60s and early '70s cars. We thought a 190 was excessive...LOL.

Yep, or the less heat u are bleeding off. Put a 160 thermo in it will use more gas than w a 190.

The more heat you can keep in the motor the more efficient - The balancing act has been how to control that high heat without leading to engine damage / detonation - Legendary Nascar race car builder, engineer and Character, Smoky Yunuck knew more about cheating than the next 10 mechanics/builders - He worked for many years on a motor, adiabatic engine, that retained so much heat it was super efficient - GM, Ford, Chrysler wrote him checks to help fund development - He held a few patents on his work but his motors never made it into production. He managed to get 150 Hp and 60 MPG out of a 78 ci. 2 cyl motor, almost 2 hp per cubic inch, at a time when 1hp per ci was considered high performance - Very interesting guy and character who unfortunately is no longer with us - I suspect he is showing St Peter how to get soup up clouds.

You would think they would be better at harnessing the lost heat. F1 have a mgu-h(motor generator unit-heat maybe) I think they call it, a generator hooked to turbo shaft to produce power off the turbo over rev. I imagine instead of opening a waste gate to divert ex around turbine, they place a load on the gen and drag the turbine speed down, controlling boost and producing elec.

Temp on cases and cylinder only 198F after hard run. Looks like I am ok.

In stock form your temps are prob fine.

I would cont to monitor and watch for high temps if you start to mod and add more cyl pressure, compression, or timing via a tune.

From the ls forums:::. A cooler T-stat won't give you more power. By greater control of the coolant temps, therfore reducing combustion chamber temps, you can now get more aggressive with the ignition timing and fuel advance curves which in turn, can lead to more power.

    Somewhat related.
