    My 1993 SPX 580 to 720 Swap

My '93 SPX has a ruined 580 motor, and me being a hot rodder, I just can't put another 60hp engine in this classic. So I'm upping it to 85 horses. Should be fun in the 370 lb ski!

I've already got a 720 engine with magneto, intake, dual carbs, exhaust manifold, flywheel, and a 720 ignition box from a 1996 720 SPX. I'm keeping my 580 Westcoast style pipe with stinger and stock water box at least for now.

    Here she is:

Ok, let me try again. Here's the '93 getting the transplant. I bought this thing new in '93.

In the end I'd like to see this thing get close to 50 mph. But acceleration and jumping are much more important and fun to me. With the 60 horse motor it was already a good jumper being so lightweight with the flat hull. I hope I did good on my choice of impeller. Thoughts?

720 engine is in. Prop is in. I got a 720 electrical box from a '96 SPX that I have to wire in a DESS post.
    Black to black of MPEM
    Black/yellow to black/yellow of MPEM
    And
    White/gray to white/gray of MPEM?

This is a 278-000-822 MPEM and from what I've read, it is supposed to work with any DESS key and does not need to be programmed. Is this correct? Do all 3 wires need to be connected?

    Thanks

Busy weekend at the lake so no smooth water, but it does a consistent 48mph on GPS with a full tank, slight chop, and my 170 lbs on it. It jumps like a dream!! I can bunnyhop this thing a few feet out of the water with no wave needed.

I'm using the 587 pipe and full exhaust still. Only issue now is accelerating from a stop. Sometimes it will jump out of the hole, other times it takes a few seconds?? I cleaned the carbs and have the slow screws 1.5 turns out.
Acceleration after I'm moving is always crisp and fast. Any ideas?

When I get that fixed and hit 50, I'll call it good. I love this little Doo!

My 720 was from a 1995 SeaDoo. Any SeaDoo 720 from the mid 90's should work fine. They put them in XP's,GTI's, GTX's, Speedster boats...Etc. Great little engines!
