    951 Rectifier regulator bypass

would like to bypass the internal rectifier /regulator with an external one on a GSXL. Im wanting to confirm if there is any phase sequencing with the output of the stator? I noticed the output of the rectifier has a pre-defined + and -, but doesnt the sequence of the 3 phases coming from the stator define the output polarity? ...In relation to a 3-phase electric motor, the phase sequence will define the direction of rotation, which is why i wonder why there is a pre-defined + and - at the output

Also, i noticed the 4Tec rectifier is recommended by most, but will a rectifier out of a 787 work?

I gave this some thought, and the internal diodes in the rectifier would determine the polarity. Therefore the 3 yellow wires from the stator have no specific order going into the rectifier.

That is correct, the regulators performs that function

I'm tired of messing with the stock rectifiers on the 787 -- what do you guys recommend? I know sorry post hijack!

Great, and thanks! Yeah I didnt think it would matter, but i wanted to confirm with others who have successfully bypassed it... And now onto determining if a 787 rectifier is sufficient or is the 4Tec one necessary?

hafweightr - have you looked into the stator AC output voltage? Or possibly something drawing down the current, such as the VTS?

96 787 rectifiers are known to fail often. I'd choose another.

I've heard good things about the 4-Tec ones but have not used one yet myself.

is that specific to the 96? And is that to say the 97 rectifiers are ok to use on a 951?

same stator as a 787 so same output but like Mattt said 787 rectifiers go out quite often
