    SBT Pistons

I bought an SBT piston for a Kawi 1100STX-DI on ebay. The part is new in the box, but the wrist pin and C-Clips are missing. If I use a Kawi wrist pin, I can't get the C-Clips into the grooves on both ends. It would seem the Kawi wrist pin is too big.

Were these designed to work only with SBT hardware?

    Re: SBT Pistons

When tech & production return in the morning they will double check the fit and respond first thing. Our pistons/wrist pins/clips are designed together (and we include with every piston purchase - the seller must have removed them) but should work with OEM parts. We will confirm and reply. Thanks for your patience.

After checking the OEM vs SBT, it does appear the OEM pin is slightly longer than the SBT and may cause an issue in an SBT piston. Even thought the rings were designed to be interchangeable with OEM, the pins are currently not.

Thank you. Do you sell the pins separately?

You can shorten a wrist pin, do you know anyone with a lathe?, Would take about 10 minutes.
2, 1998 TS 770 L, restored and running great. (Except for the one with engine that SBT put the WRONG crankshaft bearing into and is now sitting as I collect repair parts)

    Re: SBT Pistons

Thought about shortening the stock pin, but I decided to buy a Kawi piston.

Don't know if grinding the pin would cause a problem with the plating. And I'd just be guessing at how much to grind off.

I'd rather spend a little money than rig up something that might cause problems down the road. Can't put a price on peace of mind.
