    Re: Yamasaki vibration ??

Interesting to hear removing the stock Yamaha exhaust will increase vibration. I'm not sure how that plays in other than weighing less it will be easier for the engine to move around. I did feel increased vibration on my WJ650 when I took the stock pipe off, but I'm almost positive that was an alignment / shimming issue. It would be worst right above idle and then it would go away as the engine climbed in revs.

I have also seen on a few skis that you can have weird harmonic vibration with the impeller hitting the wear ring. Sometimes this causes vibration all through the rev range, and other times it's at very specific spots. I currently have a bit of that on my jammer because it's a mixed flow pump and it's shimmed very tight to the wear ring to reduce the chance of cavitation.

On some I've spent a huge amount of time with coupler / engine alignment. With the SX hulls it's so much easier with the floating mount and that becomes no issue.

It does seem with the 550 hulls that the Rhaas kits install differently. My thought is the bulkhead surface the pump shoe bolts to might have a pretty loose tolerance from the factory, or maybe this changed slightly over the years and with various molds. I had to work for a while initially on properly setting mine up so the impeller wouldn't rub and the gap between the pump face and shoe face was minimized. My final setting had a bit of a gap, which I filled with epoxy putty and sanded smooth.

    Thanks for all the replys!

I'm pretty pumped to ride it, honestly though what can come of the vibration if it's just at one spot in the throttle? Is it a huge deal? My 550sx/650 kawi conversion had a vibration but ran awesome and never really was bothersome.

Are you saying it should be worse when riding ? Haven't ridden it with the pump swap yet but is definitely the entire engine shaking making tank, battery, pipe etc shake like crazy just off idle
    Thanks for your input!
