How to repair stripped screw holes in fiberglass hull?

Hello. I got a few stripped screw holes in my hull that I'd like to get repaired. I tried searching for the subject, but only can find information on covering the old holes for finished look. I'd like to actually get it repaired, if possible, so I can use the screws again. I'm not interested in the 'red-neck' way repair by pushing a wire tie in the hole with the screw - that just makes a hole bigger.
Will filling the hole with epoxy and then drilling out for the screw work? Or maybe you can suggest some kind of inserts?
    Thanks.

I think stainless steel inserts with a little epoxy would work best. add a little thickener to the epoxy so it doesnt flow everywhere, and tape off anything you dont want it to stick to..

I would just fill it with epoxy, but if you can get to the back side of it I would add a backer of some kind I have some 1/4" plastic I use.

Nutserts? - Worked for me when I wanted to install larger 95 sponsons on 94 purple hull

    Why Use a Nutsert?

To attach components where it may not be possible or desirable to use a traditional nut and bolt. Rivnut strength provides higher torque range than a regular nut. When installed properly, the rivet nut becomes a permanent part of the installation. Bolt can be removed and reinstalled repeatedly with no loss of holding power. For use in plastic, aluminum, steel, fiberglass or wood.

Used 8 of 'em 5/16- 18 thread ! Big mothas,on the sponsons I made. I drain maybe a teaspoon of water after hours of riding. The installation tool, alotta guys make 'em, I'm a machinist and I bought the tool, I'm just a tool freak, gotta have it. It's not cheap. I believe the kit with 15 rivnuts was around 70.00 shipped, but 8 G's couldn't rip 'em off. Oh, and the 8 high nickle, pan head, allan key hex marine bolts were 1.40 a piece at the distributor. lol

Thanks guys. The SS inserts definitely would be the strongest and more durable repair, but would require the use of bolts designed for them, thus replacing the original screws which I prefer not to do. So I'll try epoxy/backing idea - I think it should hold pretty well.

Yes I do, actually I have couple of those installed already in the ski some years ago. But now I just want to fix some small screw holes that hold various panels and also battery compartment.
