Thread: Sxr Ultra! 1200

    Sxr Ultra! 1200

Laserjet is on indefinite hold for awhile, school, lack of money (that I want to sink into a 550 hull), working on on a desert go-fast jeep, and this POS will keep me busy for awhile. The laserjet also needs to be fully separated and reglued.

I was bored, I dont want to put a twin back in this sxr. Took a trip to cali and picked up two ultra 150s and a pro 785.

I have a solas 148 mag pump i may or may not do a setback with...

Deepened and started straightening out the bottom, still has a little work left but most of it is done. Messenger sends crappy pics, sorry.

I've only seen 1 other with an ultra motor in there, and it was tight. It should fit fine.

I don't really want the triple AND a forward water box up in there, but I don't see any room for the waterbox anywhere else.

Like your creative work and talent.

I assume you tack-welded the first half of the new motor plate in position? And you clamped the negative ground welding lead to the top crankcase bolt? If that is so, please inspect your crankshaft bearings for damage...

The 90+ amps of current used for tacking the motor plate in position will likely have traveled thru the crankshaft bearings and damaged them...

Got 'er welded up. not the prettiest but definitely has fullpenetration and no pinholes.

Going to finish the 90 degree turn with TIG and new stinger and 2 spray nozzles tomorrow.

Looking good, aluminum is a pain in the *** to tig. Cast AL is like a sponge to dirt n grime.

I've been watching this thread, it's an interesting build. I want to see how it runs and if those pistons being sideways will do something weird with how it rides. I always kind of wanted to see this happen, keep updating us.

My 01 ultra always ran and performed spot on. The oem carbs were hard starting @ times.
