Re: 650 sx triple 900 adaptation

I will see if I put a waterbox like this one in the photo, problem is the space and height of entrance and exit that are on the same level.waterbox.jpg

I would look for an aftermarket box, from a later X-2 with the larger inlet & outlet fittings.

The one in your pic may work as well, if you can get it into the nose.

Another option I bet TDR would make a custom one for you.

Re: 650 sx triple 900 adaptation

Gentlemen, the engine does not fit in the hull, I thought of an alternative that many make to fit 1100 engines in the hull of the SxR, thinning the exhaust manifold and throwing the manifold deeper into the engine, then putting the prisoners on, what they think Of this idea?corte coletor.jpg

It does, perhaps with that mod. Search around a bit. Theres a thread with pics either here or in the vintage section. Maybe a video of it running too.

Re: 650 sx triple 900 adaptation

A buddy of mine did a similar swap in his 650sx but with a Polaris 900 engine. I believe he also encountered an issue with fitting the exhaust/manifold. I'll try to get in touch with him to see how he got around it cause I know he got it all together and running.

This is the one I was thinking of. It certainly is possible. Looks like he had to blister the hull to get the exhaust to fit.

I think a budget 650sx/900 could possibly be just about the fastest you can go for the money. Like we were saying in some of the posts on that thread, 900s are much more common and cheaper to get than 1100s. With the appropriate big hub swirl or hooker impeller, prowatercraft front sponsons, and a good rideplate to lock the rear but not add too much nose pressure, this would be a fun ski.

Re: 650 sx triple 900 adaptation

So TheVetteman3, I practically switched my 650 sx engine to this 900 zxi. But what I'm really looking for is the differential of the adaptation, since you do not have much news or more data on the adaptations in this hull of 650 sx.

Re: 650 sx triple 900 adaptation

I analyzed the alternative of flushing the exhaust manifold, but it works more for 750 and SXR helmets, for the 650 I made the measurements and would need a 1.5 cm wear to fit the original exhaust, it would not do. I decided to cut the hull, follow the photos.
