Re: New Project, JS Conversion freeride ski

Made a little more progress this weekend. Got the hood seal removed, fixed some cracks, filled in where the stock exhaust exits the hull, and got things cleaned up a little more. Hope to start on the rocker this week. Decided rather than paint the ski, im going to reinforce the whole ski on the outside and leave it with the raw glass finish. Going to do above the bond line in black epoxy and below will be regular. Then will have some sort of clear over the top to smooth it out and have JS400 decals in white. Got started on the hood, which had its fair share of cracks.

Put the bottom end together tonight. Rebuilt crank from Competitive Crankshafts, ProX seals, new PTO collar, and some 1211. Drilled and tapped the drain holes, put in a brass plug with JB on the threads, then cut the head off just to make it a little more clean.

Did a little cutting today to start forming the rocker. Im happy with how easy it was and how smooth it went but im not happy with the amount of rise I got. Im not sure if my paint sticks are too soft or if I just need some a little thicker. Gonna work on it a bit more tomorrow and start the glass when im happy.

Well boys and girls, it looks like the snail pipe is a go. Just need to have the stinger rewelded so it goes out to the front of the boat. Its a tight fit but will work. May even run a longer cone, still unsure.

Front is all epoxied up and reinforced with 1708. Just need to shape the bottom and front now to how I want it. Making progress!

Forgot about the fuel tank. Gonna try to dent in the side of the stock tank a bunch and see if I can make it work, if not will need to find something else thats smaller.

If you are not worried about capacity you could go with the standard "Go-Cart Tank" mod...

I don't know man, I run through fuel pretty fast and I'm only running a single 50mm carb. I can drain a tank faster than wear myself out.
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

We'll see what happens. My first step is to try to mod the stock tank. If that doesnt work maybe i'll just get a standard cone for the pipe and be done. Ive decided to that im going to run a single carb, probably 46, on this set up. Either way, I dont want to lose a whole lot of capacity.
