    Re: kawasaki 550sx 1994

I did it once before and all that was required was simply cutting one wire.

Upon further inspection of my e-box, it looks like I have an older 91 550sx because it does not have any purple wires which I understand came to be sometime mid 1991... So I think it's a gray wire I need to cut, but the gray wire is actually 2 wires into 1 (3 gray wires all connect together...) With that said, do I cut the one directly off the coil?

I know this is getting confusing, so I appreciate anyone willing to bear with me! I may try cutting the gray wire coming off the coil next and see what happens. But obviously I'd prefer not to be cutting wires that don't need to be cut if I can find out the correct one!

I'm on a mission to build up my National Championship replica-ish ski that is long gone now... I'm almost there... It was the most fun I had in the sport. Super reliable, super light, & required some skill to ride! I bought a used bone stock 91 a couple months ago and never even put it into the water. Immediately hunted down all (most) of the parts and built it up. Last night as dusk went into night, I popped it into the water for the first time and it ripped!! (before hand on a hunch, I richened the high speed and low speed by 1/4 turn and it was pretty much spot on!!) I'm getting excited to ride 550s again!

OK, I got it figured out. It is the Gray wire that comes out of the controller (with the older wire colors). Simply unplug the barrel plug that leads to the coil, tape it up, done. Sorry if you guys tried explaining that to me, it was confusing, but I got it now.

I also realize now that this thread is in the wrong forum ("site feedback")... Found this using the search feature and didn't realize where the original thread was posted.. oops

i dont recommend ever cutting wires in your ebox or stator unless you absolutely have to.

I'm well aware of what I'm getting into here... The issue was my memory of not recalling exactly which wire to disconnect. It's been 23 years since I did it last... Now I'm sorted and the rev limiter is gone, exactly what I was aiming for.

We are in the presence of Go-Ped Royalty,

    Everyone bow please

But why do you need to cut the rev limiter? It isn't going to slow you down?

Horsepower == Speed, RPM != Speed
