    Personal watercraft explodes

TOWN OF SALEM, WI (WSAU) A Kenosha County man is hospitalized with severe injuries caused by an exploding personal watercraft.

The 52-year-old man started up the vessel in his driveway yesterday morning in the Town of Salem and it blew up. He's been identified as Michael Przlomski. His home also suffered minor damage.

Sheriff David Beth says it could have been the result of the engine compartment not being ventilated and fumes building up. The incident is not considered suspicious.

Powerboat runs over Ocean City woman on a jet ski

    http://www.delmarvanow.com/story/new...rash/88586340/

An Ocean City woman was hospitalized Thursday after a collision between a powerboat and a personal watercraft in Assawoman Bay left her with severe lacerations to one leg and her back, according to Maryland Natural Resources Police.

Rose Ann Seaman, 52, was driving a Yamaha personal watercraft in Fenwick Ditch at the north end of Assawoman Bay around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Aug. 11, according to NRP spokeswoman Candy Thomson, and witnesses said Seaman cut in front of a powerboat. After colliding with the 30-foot boat, driven by Stanford Thomas Morre Jr., 65, of Selbyville, Delaware, Seaman was knocked off her watercraft, went under the boat, and was struck in the leg by the boat's propeller, according to Thomson.

She was airlifted to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware, Thomson said. The extent of her injuries has not been announced.

Natural Resources Police impounded the jet ski and interviewed witnesses.

Girl suffers a suspected broken leg in jet ski accident

    http://www.berwick-advertiser.co.uk/...dent-1-4211002

A nine-year-old girl suffered a suspected broken leg in a jet ski accident at Budle Bay, near Bamburgh, on Tuesday evening.

It is understood the girl fell from a banana boat, which was being pulled by the jet ski.

The inshore and all-weather lifeboats from Seahouses were launched at 7.08pm at the request of Humber Coastguard.

Crew assisted ambulance paramedics, while an air ambulance and local coastguard teams from Seahouses and Howick also arrived. The girl was then put aboard the aircraft after being given pain relief and flown to the Newcastle RVI for treatment.

Seahouses Lifeboat operations manager Ian Clayton said: “We want everyone to enjoy the coast, but this incident does highlight the need for care when using jet skis, as injuries can easily happen. This accident resulted in a serious injury which could have been worse. We hope she makes a full recovery, and comes back to enjoy the coast safely.”

These are sad accidents mostly due to stupidity, but I can't help but laugh at how they exaggerate their point to embellish the story in most cases.

Man drowns while jet skiing in South Lake Tahoe

    http://mynews4.com/news/local/man-dr...uth-lake-tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — South Lake Tahoe police report that one man died over the weekend while jet skiing about 100 yards from the shore in Lake Tahoe.

The incident happened just after 6 p.m. on Saturday the 15th. The body of 22-year-old Raeshon Williams of Oakland was recovered around 7:28 p.m. by Marine 3.

According to officials, Williams rode a jet ski into a wave with a partner while not wearing a life jacket, and both riders fell off the ski.

The water was only about 10-12 feet deep, but officials believe cold water may have played a role in the death. Marine units were called to the scene and the body was located with the help of a CHP helicopter.

Officials performed CPR, but he did not respond. The victim was pronounced dead at 7:50 p.m.

According to Lt. Brian Williams, "cold water shock seems to be- in many of these instances- the most hazardous kind of element to deal with. Even if someone can swim, they often don’t have the opportunity to get to the surface and swim because of cold water shock.”

IDAHO FALLS — Bonneville County sheriff’s deputies and Idaho Falls Ambulance personnel responded to a report of a riderless jet ski floating in the Snake River above John’s Hole Bridge near Freeman Park on Monday afternoon.

When they arrived on scene, deputies spoke with two adult males, ages 80 and 52, who were on jet skis. One of them told deputies that his jet ski had experienced a mechanical issue and was pulled into the hydronic of the diversion dam near University Place. Riders on another jet ski tried to help, but both vehicles ended up overturning and all of the riders fell into the water, according to a news release.

Two juvenile females, who had also been riding on the jet skis, were initially unaccounted for, but they were able to get out of the water upstream. Ambulance personnel examined them at the scene and then released them, according to the news release.

All of the individuals were from Rexburg.
