Testing the waters; 1989 650sx Race Ski

    1989 650sx
Ive owned it since 2009, two previous owners (one was the racer).
I have all paperwork for work done, current pink slip(title) and both previous bills of sale.

As far as I have been told and know, the ski was a race ski in the early 1990's sponsored by PJS and Mid-Cities Honda-Kawasaki in the Los Angeles area. Has a custom paint job from the era that is of course seen some wear, it's scratched, chipped, oxidized, and discolored. That being said it still looks bada$$ and get a lot of compliments. Its a good 10ft looker.

    What it has:
    PJS Ride Plate
    PJS intake grate
    PJS high compression head
    PJS exhaust manifold
    PJS exhaust pipe
    PJS head pipe
    PJS Carb manifold
    K&N flame arrestor
aftetmarket mikuni carb (I do know know if it's an sbn 44 or not)
aftermarket impeller (no clue what pitch)
straight bars and aftermarket aluminum steer plate
    ODI grips
    shaved chin pad
newer side tray and chin pad vinyl
blowsion pole spring (double springs) and stainless spring brace on pole
recently replaced CDI box (2 years ago)
Hot products finger throttle and pisser
    rule 500gph bilge
    Primer in place of choke
    lanyard kill switch start/stop button

    What it might have:

engine work. I personally have never opened up the engine and looked to see what has been done to it. I know I have had it bored once but that was years ago and I didn't ask the shop what they saw. With all of the aftermarket stuff on the engine I would assume somethings have to have been tinkered with but I'm not claiming it has because I haven't seen it with my eyes.

I am almost positive it has the stock waterbox as it looks like the standard aluminum drum but it's hard to see behind the fuel tank so there's an off chance it may not be.

Aftermarket nozzle or cone or whatever. I know nothing about nozzles and cones so I have no clue if the things after the impeller are stock or aftermarket. Tried to include pics.

    Bad stuff:

Like said earlier, the ski is far from mint, it's got scratches and needs the engine bay to be cleaned and metal polished.

the vintage Jettrim mat has seen better days and should probally be replaced.

Finally, I just had it out this weekend. It was running great, but had trouble starting. It would turn over a lot before finally starting. I don't know if it has a weak spark or if its the battery. It may be the battery as its 2 years old and I killed it the last day trying to start the ski. I did ride it for a few hours though and it ran perfect. It hauls, and passes my 701 SN Superjet with ease. I almost never go past half throttle. I fell hard at the end of the day and pulled the kill switch, and couldn't get it to start back up. I have no idea the reason. I got it to Start on the trailer again but it took a lot of turning over and I killed the battery eventually. I'm moving to Kentucky for a little more than a year and have no time to tinker with it. That said I don't need to sell as I have a place to store it free but I won't be able to use it for about 2 years so I would like if someone else could enjoy it and get it looking good.

Anyways just seeing if there is any interest and what kind of offers I get.

Your pump has a bored aluminum nozzle that didn't come stock on 650's.
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

I know a great shipper who specializes in boats and skiis, if it helps with the sale.
Came to me as a referral from another member here. Delivered a ZXI to me in PA from Virginia Friday night. Excellent transaction and communication.

You could keep and sell your pipe and manifold , l have one they go for 350+ in the summer really l believe it makes more power but definitely sounds way better than factory pipe

Also you could sell your head and carb ,
