    LRV Bilge pump

I'm rebuilding a LRV that has (what i think is OEM) bilge pump. My first ski with bilge pump, is there any danger

of water siphon back inside the ski. And what keeps the pump from running constantly, I hooked it up straight to

battery to test and it ran dry without stopping. Thanks

    Re: LRV Bilge pump

most bilges either have a float or an on/off switch and will run dry but only for a quick cycle,
did it keep running for an extended period ?
The problem with normal is that it just keeps getting worse...

I would rather sit than quit...

Yes, it ran for as long as I kept 12v on it. There is no float.

was the dess key plugged in at the time?

I think that model is designed to run for 30 seconds then shut off.
I had one in my garage last year for a refurb and it ran when the key was on, turned off with the key off, but still only 30 seconds, maybe its got a short or since you direct wired it, its not getting the "off" message from the mpem? You might want to check the wiring diagram, there might be a proper place where you need to plug in the bilge.

you could always add an on/off switch onto the dash pretty easily.

here's a pic of one I stumbled across.
