    macboost intercooler installation

Just getting ready to install intercooler. Can I leave stock air box, or do I have to do filter setup as in instructions from Mac?

reiterate.... does filter need to be what mac has on his site, or are there other good recommendations?

I don't think you can get the factory plastic tube in there after the Macboost intercooler is installed.

You will have to use the K&N provided, but I used an inexpensive radiator hose from Advance Auto Parts to move my filter/intake up to just under the back seat tray where it won't get any splash water from in the bottom of the hull and also get nice cool air from the hull air intake under the rear seat [I removed all my long black tubes since we never flip our skis].

We recommend the Uni filter. It is light weight and breathes well. You will have to remove the stock I take tube.

Oh, I did. I cut one 90 degree section off the stock pipe, clamped it to the turbo, and onto the stock air box. It pinches it up tight to the port side. The tool box JUST fits. I already had a couple stock filters. Where I have it now it's easier to change the filter than in the original position.

    Re: macboost intercooler installation

I have the Macsboost stage 2 kit. I used to run the Uni filter, but I swamped my ski last year and sucked in water through the intake after the hull was filled with water up to the turbo. After 6 oil changes, I continued using the Uni filter. After a season of salt water riding, I took the filter off the turbo for winterization and found salt build up inside the turbo inlet and vacuum lines. This salt spray was getting through the filter pretty bad.

I then built a custom air intake which puts the filter up front under the glove box. I use a pretty big K&N filter with the splash shield. I've put 5 hours on the ski with this setup and it did not affect acceleration, top speed or any performance. It sounds a lot better also.
