    Re: Blaster Open Spec

Considering the turnout at Perris, I think we should just scrap the Blaster Open Spec and Sport GP and just bring back Sport Open Spec, same rules as before. Personally, and I know most of you feel the same, I just want competition. 8 racers on the line in one class would have been much better than two races with 5 and 3. I wasn't there, but I could see from the results that the turnout was too small for two classes, and it was even worse on Sunday. Just my $.02

Tim, as you know I will do what the majority wants as yes the turnout OVERALL was much smaller than Parker/Havasu. I too would like to see bigger lines but I also know the way racing works, for some, if they feel they can't win in a class they will either switch classes or quit and I would rather offer another class than see a rider quit. How about this, let's survey the active riders in the four Sport classes and see what they want to do, if they want to go back to Sport Spec (before GP came on the scene) then I'm for it but lets get a concensus and then make a decision.

I'm not a sport racer, but I am a fan of the class. I can see the issue where people want a chance to win and that's when more classes are helpful.

In this case I can imagine that bringing back sport open (before GP was a thing) it would start to come back to life.

Low participation sucks, that's the main reason I stopped racing limited ski. It was the same 3 people and the same trophy every time. I have more fun getting my butt kicked in the stock class.

Like I said I'm not a sport racer, but my vote is to bring sport open back. Sport open was a fun class to watch.

            Re: Blaster Open Spec

I agree we should go back to open spec rules. we need more people to race this class. and if they want to race GP they can race the World Finals. And if the Blaster guys feel they are not competitive with HX in open spec. we should adjust the rules. So everyone has a chance to win. We need to work together. There really is not enough of us racing separate classes right now.

              Re: Blaster Open Spec

You would definitely see more on the line with Sport Open Spec than Sport GP. I wouldn't mine the HXs in here. Test out to see if the HXs are that much of an advantage. If so, adjust the rules. The GP guys may jump in this class also, but score separately as ScottieMac mentioned. Fyi, no one else is going to race against Tony, Shawn and Denny in GP.

Winning is nice, but you know where you stack against the pack. As long as the racer feels that his/her ski and ability is in the mix, he/she will feel more competitive and will more than likely participate.
