I want to make something clear. I had nothing to do with the creation of this class. I'm starting to get the feeling that the HX community on the west coast thinks that this is my doing but its not. I've been contacted by a couple of my friends that race HXs and I can tell there is a bit of animosity towards this. I totally I understand, but I'm not the person driving this. If I were you, I would take it up with Ross.

a very annoying part of this is they only charge $80 per day for the blasters, and sport is still 100. Like wtf?

In Regional racing, I think that Ross (RPM Racing) is listening to his racers and very accommodating. He doesn't have to offer WF classes only as some will not participate anyways. As long as there are a limited number of racers for a new class, he has offered it as you know. HX only with a set of rules and not going GP will get you more people. JMO

Currently in the RPM series, Sport GP is effectively an HX only class. Have a look at the entries for Sport GP each round:

    Havasu:
    Sport GP Tony Martinez
    Sport GP Denny Janeway
    Sport GP Alex Wong
Sport GP Jacob Leu <------- The only blaster rider this season in Sport GP

    Parker:
    Sport GP Tony Martinez
    Sport GP Denny Janeway
    Sport GP Shawn Quemada

    Perris:
    Sport GP Tony Martinez
    Sport GP Denny Janeway
    Sport GP Alex Wong
    Sport GP Shawn Quemada
    ??

The point is, this class has not taken anything away from the Sport GP class so far.

    Re: Blaster Open Spec

^^^That's what cracks me up about this entire debate. GP guys are all upset because 'this is going to further divide the class....' Ah, that class is dead. Sorry guys, facts are facts. None of the guys who have signed up for this Blaster open spec class had any plans on racing any West Coast race in GP. So, in effect, this class has ZERO effect on GP. Or, let me put it another way, if this class is not offered.... You will still end up with the same number of riders in GP.

You want to place blame of the demise of the highest level sport class, then look at the powers that be who refused to listen to the vast majority of riders who simply didn't want GP to begin with. No one else's fault.

What the HX guys should do is have Ross change GP to Sport Open Spec, then if someone shows with a true GP, run them together and score separately. That way you might pull some riders from the Blaster Open spec class and it allows people like the Hills and anyone else who wants to build a fast HX, but doesn't have the budget to build full on GP skis, to race and be competitive. Problem Solved.

    Re: Blaster Open Spec

I have said it for years.......since I started racing..

Open classes .....gp classes or full mod classes kills classes and rhe sport.

Which is why jetski racing in general is pretty much dead if it continues. ...

Limited in the old days was the best....

Or any type of iroc class you can set up....

Rider ability and tuner....not full all out money. How it should be
