    1998 ts1000r

    Hey what's up guys,

Just picked up one of these this past weekend. Very nice ski overall. Owner sold it due to some financial problems, and the fact that it doesn't run. Ski doesn't have spark, and from the looks of it previous owner allready messed around with the wiring. Did do a compression before I bought it, got 130 psi across the board, and everything else looks good. Managed to land a very clean titleless ts1000r in my area as well so should have the wiring issues lined out quick.

    Few questions. .

How good is the oil injection, or is it better to just block off and go premix?
Performance wise how do these compare to the 1050 polaris?

Any main problems I need to look out for?

    I'll post Pics this weekend!

Let me know what you guys think!

    Thanks paul

I personally think they stopped production just when they were heading in the right direction with their lineup. If i had ever gotten one it would be the one you have

From Dallas Texas I see! I'm polaris guy, but this was a good deal for a clean ski.

the oil pump should be ok. My '99 1100 still runs oil injection. I know nothing of Polaris so I can't compare, but it should be decently quick. I look forward to see pics!

Hey lownrangr, thanks for the reply. Read thathe running some aftermarket flame arrestors, and different jets make a big difference. By chance you know or suggest Wichita jetski to run when doing flame arrestors?

He means jets on the carbs, as a modification with the flame arrestors. Certainly Not a necessity.

I just bought one stock. 1998 1000 TSR Runs great. Enjoy

I'll have to look up my numbers, but I think I have the stock high speed jet's and I went up something like 10 sizes for pilot jets. There's still a funky transition in the midrange that another couple sizes would fix, but I just deal with it.

Funny you mention a "funky transition" with an 1100 engine. I had the same issue with my 770. Won't say more, cuz I don't want to hijack this thread. But, to get back on topic......

I'm starting to get a touch of 'red boat' envy. Dealer never pushed red when I bought in '99.

Got it back on the water for the first time this season. Ski is sluggish at take of, like the hole shot is lacking alot. Once it gets around 3500-4000 rpms it just snaps of hard. Carb related?
