    Re: 87 650sx no ststart.

I went up to mstbone67a's to try his working cdi coil on my ski. We tried his on my ski with no luck. We then tried my new cdi coil (from jetski plus) on his ski with no luck. We then tried my old cdi coil on his ski and it worked. Then we tried it on my ski but still no luck. I rechecked the reading on my stator, (referbished by jetski solutions), and they seem fine. Exciter read 318 (manual lists 250 - 380), charging coil yellow to yellow 1.9 ( 1.5 -1.8), yellow to black .9 (.7-1.3). Cranking speed is excellent. So it appears my new cdi coil from (jetski plus) does not work but my old one does. We have spark, compression, and fuel, but the ski still does not start.
Anyone have anything else to try.

Nothing new to report, just trying to save enough money to be able to get it into a shop. Hopefully that will put an end to the problem. I will report back if it ever starts again.

Hope you get it going soon. I am out of ideas on this one. Thankfully you have some time before the season starts.

Up date. I never could find the problem, so I sold it for salvage ($300). That made room for the incoming 2003 sxr 800 a friend sold me for ($400). I wanted to part the old one out by my wife said get rid of it before the sxr arrived.

I appreciate that you tried to help.

Now I need to figure out how to post pictures of all the extra stuff for the 650sx I still have.

Got money the problem was leaking crank seals. Did you do a leak down test?

Never tried that, but before I lucked into the sxr upgrade I used a fancy spark tester and it had really weak spark compared to my xp. It's some one else's worry now.2017-09-16 18.22.03.jpg

Wow, you got a steal. FWIW, I'm down the road in Lawrence if you come across any deals like that again.

He is a great frend. He bought the 87 new also. When he retires one he makes a good deal to me. He knows I will slowly refurbish it. He has more money than time, I am suprised how long he keeps them.
