    87 650sx no ststart.

1987 Kawasaki 650sx won't start. At first no spark, now everything replaced has spark but still doesn't start. Turns over fine. Here is what I have tried so far since October . Compression 135psi, engine rebuilt 2005. New battery, plugs, cdi coil, starter relay, voltage regulator. Stator rebuilt (Jetski Solutions ), fresh gas, extra ground wires added, start/stop switch checked, flywheel magnates checked, all wires from bat to starter checked. its run great with no problems until October. I usually start it every other week until no start in October. I'm out of ideas. Thanks in advance.

I would check your fuel pump. I think yours has the remote fuel pump. Sometimes they dry out and lose prime. Will it fire if you give it a shot of starting fluid?

Thank you, I have tried starting fluid with no luck. Mine has a keihin cdk II 38 with the pump on the carb. I pulled the carb and reed cages today. Reeds ok, cleaned & checked internals on carb. Nothing found in carb(dirt). Will Finnish and try again tomorrow.

If you have good spark and the plugs are dry it almost has to fire with starting fluid. My other thought , did you just recently check compression or was that awhile ago?

Agreed ^^^^^^ compression is below boarder line, for altitude in Kansas, thats like 5500 plus feet compression, might want to recheck.

Other than that maybe timing? If you don't already have one I would recommend a Clymer service manual. They have a good diagnostics section. Hope you get er going soon. Keep us posted.

I pulled the flywheel a second time to check the key and timing mark. I have Clymer and the original service manuals (a friend was the original owner). Normally easy to fix. This has been a real head scratcher. I see spark but don't know if I consider it strong.
