    900 vs 1100 cranks

    Are kawi 900 and 1100 cranks interchangeable..?

    short answer NO ! ,they are 90% (give or take) different crank assembly !

    This reminds me of a ZXi 1100 that I rebuilt for a customer. It was previously modified and had a 900 crankshaft with Yamaha pistons in it.

    It worked out great. I didn't do the changes, I just rebuilt the engine for him. There were other mods too. I only presume whoever built the engine that way wanted a big bore and Yamaha pistons fit the Kawasaki 900 rods.

    Hello! Guys, can I turn a 900 zxi engine into 1100? What would it take? Are the engine blocks the same?

    cases and cylinders are different.
    with some work the 900 cases can be made to work,enlarge the transfer entrance ramps on upper case and relocate 1 dowel pin.lots of grinding but doable.
    cylinders will need new sleeves
