Negative. Doug says stick with a stocker on these boats. He explained a little to me on the phone about trimming the edges off a stock prop which gave him the most gain when he raced these back in the day. He might have a few New Old Stock Originals on his shelf still.

I will clean up the stocker I have and use it. Might also add dual cooling. This little 428cc engine runs hot as hell.

So the impeller is held on with this little aluminum pin. This is what it looks like after it shears off... Question is do I go with some hardened steel or another aluminum pin.

Can't see pics, buuuutttttt..... I would guess keep the aluminum pin. I have no experience with these things, but if you go stainless, it has a higher tensile strength (won't break as easily) as aluminum. I would hate to see you shear something else that costs more money.

Hopefully someone with experience on your boat can give more input.

....me? I'd go stainless, as long as I can get all the other drive train parts. Not sure you can get those.

Good luck. Keep this thread going, please.

Found this in the "Holy grail of watercraft" thread. Looks exactly like the Wetjet headpipe, except it doesn't say westcoast on it. Even the tabs on the top for the springs to attach to the chamber. And after some more googling the chamber looks the same-ish too. "WestCoast Turbo Chamber"

For anyone wondering the pin that holds the impeller to the shaft is 1-1/4" x 3/16 dia. You can get it in stainless from fastenal for .55 cents.

I used a stainless pin on my '86 when I had it, the 89's went to a shaft with both pin & keyway. A couple months ago I picked up a '91 sport 2 & a '92 sport 2 spirit, both in good shape, the '92 especially looks like new, have both running now have tested the spirit had a few issues & will be testing the sport 2 soon. Will attempt to get some pictures in the future.

Finally got her running great and took the gps out. 35.2mph. Then did another run a few minutes later with the only change being a tee right before were the water enters the chamber and hit 35.9mph with a huge increase in bottom end.

I also drilled out the npt fittings for the water lines and she is running significantly cooler. Chamber no longer steams when you splash water on it.
