    Re: Side draft carbs

    Hi,
I agree completely with Harry, it's incredible that you can till find people with so much confusion in the head.
Attending tha's no correlation between carbs and bilge pumps also IMO there is also confusion between carb mounting and intake manifold tipology.
Carbs are mounted " in line" (with the throttle shafts on the same axis) or "parallel" (the shafs are parallel to contrast the "left turn syndrome")
Intake manifold can be "downdraft" (like the majority of old skis like Superjet, old GP nonpowervalve 1200) or "sidedraft" (like SD 951 or powervalve GP1200)
I would be happy to hear the last word on the argument from Harry..................
    Greetings
    Michele ITALY

To those of you who apparently have no sense of humor I will spell it out for you, with sidedraft carbs you will suck all the water out of the hull right through the carbs when you make a turn, therefore you will no longer need a bilge system, if you don't believe me just ask Seadoo about early model 951's.

    Hi WFO,
you have to believe me that I haven't understood that the creator of this thread John Stevens was joking......................
In any case you are right; 951 S/D and especially the XPL was great water eaters (I raced with XPL's and had many bad experiences with water ingestion due to the low intake manifold).
    To hear you soon
