    Another 550/750 build

Ok guys I have been wanting to build a 550/750 conversion for awhile. I was going to use my 87 js 300 hull but decided not to. I hate the right front exhaust in your face and I hate the old azz bearing housing. My js300 had a 550 motor in it so I will just take what I need from that and put on my 95 Kawi 550sx hull. The hull that I bought does have some fiberglass damage to it but it nothing I can't fix. I plan on painting the whole ski in a green color, which is my favorite. Well I started taking pics of the hull and then when I came in I found the damn SIM card wasn't inside the camera lol, so there will not be any before pics, sorry. I was going to keep those rubber sides but I ended up damaging one side so the hell with it I will put hydro turf on the side. I have a 750 motor, electrical and pump from a donor 750ss. I also bought a Coffman exhaust for it along with a Supertrapp waterbox. The 550sx through hull bearing housing is rusted up pretty bad so I was wondering will a 650x2 driveshaft fit through that housing? If so it will only cost me about 56 bucks for all new parts for the inside of the housing. Thanks Mike

This is pretty sweet! I'm planning a similar build over the winter. ('95 SX hull with fiberglass damage, 750ss donor ski, RHAAS, etc)

Yep, that driveshaft bearing housing assembly is the same for a lot of different Kawi skis. You can find aftermarket rebuild kits pretty cheap on eBay. Or pull the one out of the 750ss hull if it's good, it's the same one!

    Looking forward to following along!

I removed all the decals using a little heat and an eraser wheel, now it's ready for the DA and 180 grit sand paper.

I added body filler to the top of the side trays and also filled in the valley in the tray. The side where the fiberglass has an indent I filled that level with the tray. It's turning out pretty nice. I still need to fan out the filler and fill in on the low spots. The whole area will be sprayed with epoxy primer and some spot puddy to fill in small pin holes and little voids.

I would like to see what you guys think of my 2 base coat options for my 550.

One is House of Kolor Tangelo orange pearl and the other is Snakeskin green. I will also be adding white to the mix.

Those two colors in some type of stripe pattern would look awesome (and only be like $500 or so)

Added the Rhaas 750/550 bed pan adaptor today and install the painted bed pan and motor mounts. As you can see by the green paint that I will be going with the Snakeskin green base coat on the hull.
