New SJ "competition use only" registration in TX

About to buy a 2015 SuperJet out of state (closeout deal). I caught the whole no warranty / competition use thing to appease the EPA so Yamaha could continue to sell... Any issue registering in Texas? No idea if the MSO says "not for recreation".....

Shouldn't have any issues registering, although I don't know Texas laws. Most 2 stroke dirt bikes were sold as "competition use only" to appease EPA. So my guess is you'll be fine

    Hopefully someone will know.
2-stroke dirt bikes don't typically get registered (at least in TX)... I understand the EPA thing, I just want to make sure there is no rule to deny registration like there is for UTVs in TX.

When I bought my NEW 2013 SuperJet in Houston, the Dealer made me get the IJSBA membership so they could/would sell me the SuperJet...

Then the Dealer handled all the paperwork with the State of Texas.

I also bought a USED 2012 SuperJet in Houston from a Private Party. Transferred the Title and Registered the SJ at the Fish & Wildlife office. You will need a receipt (that separates SuperJet cost from Trailer cost or else you will pay tax on the whole amount for both items), the signed Title and the State of Texas completed form signed and dated by BOTH parties.

Correction: "Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept."

Trailers are Titled and Registered at the Texas Dept of Motor Vehicles.

I doubt there are any laws banning them in TX. I just rode a 2014 SJ that the owner had purchased from a dealer earlier this year and he had no problem getting it titled and registered. He also mentioned the no warranty thing.

Unusual for a Dealer not to offer the basic one-year factory warranty on a new SuperJet. I know for sure, that all the way up to 2013, the SJ was covered by the one-year factory warranty, as long as the SJ was left completely stock, as sold by the dealer. Any modifications would/could void the factory warranty. By the way, I was also offered the option to purchase an Extended Warranty...

Lucky for us, Texas has not banned two-stroke PWC's.

    God Bless Texas

I'm not sure there is a factory warranty offered anymore. From the Yamaha Motor USA http://www.yamahawaverunners.com/performance/superjet web site:

    You're right linkman.

I checked with a friend who works at the Cycle Shack North in Conroe, Texas, and he says that no factory warranty is being offered since 2014.

So I got the last year (2013) SuperJet that came with a factory warranty
