how to tell if pump shaft bearing is bad

I have my engine and my pump out. The pump shaft feels stiff. What are the bearings supposed to feel like?

How do you get the bearings out without a press?
Which way do they come out?

Shoot me your email and I will get you a PDF of the X2 Shop manual. It has detailed instructions.

i can tell when my bump bearings are bad because the impeller bangs around in the pump and shears the bearing shaft off flush with the back of the prop.....

Not sure if that was a joke or a very unfortunate breakdown.
I'm replacing my bearing. The manual says to use "a waterproof grease". Can I really just use generic marine grease? All grease is waterproof last time I checked.

How i wish it was joke....
I was told by impros, that it would be cheaper to get a new impeller than repair my sxr prop that this happened to. So I bought a new Hooker.

    And got an impeller 2
