Also it is my Gray wire that is broken. I tried also changing the Ebox again and also changed the bullet connecters to see if that was the problem.

Sorry the Gray wire is the one that is broken that I used bullet connecters and redid them to make sure I did it right.

I also do not see anything inside the Ebox that looks like a fuse of anything.

It's not possible to obtain AC voltages less than zero, unless you exist in some alternate reality where division by zero is allowed and perpetual motion works. Any chance that you had it set for DC measurement? It should be set to AC volts and in either auto ranging or a manual range that allows readings of up to 50 volts (might be a V~ 200, 100, or 50 range depending on the make/model). Your leads should be connected to the voltmeter common and V connections.

Most JS550 models will not have a fuse. I haven't had my hands on a 1990 or newer but I read that something like the 1991 or newer had them (someone correct me if I'm off by the year).

Still can't get a reading I think this multimeter is ancient. Won't work for continuity anyways.

Now.I'm thinking when I put everything back.together I shorted something out I found a small scratch near the inside of the ebox on the blue wire that is connected to the start switch that might have been shorting out the stop switch

That multimeter should measure continuity. It's the diode symbol at the 5 o'clock position.

Try resistance. Put it the selector on ohms (20k at 8 o'clock for example). It should read infinite or overload or the like. Touch the leads together and it should read zero. Anything different and find another meter or fix it.
