Rotary Valve Cover Exchange - Mothers Maiden name needed???!?!!

I just got off the phone with a member of the SBT sales team, after deciding which cover I needed for my ski, he informed me that he needed my mothers maiden name to complete the transaction?!!

Is this normal? Seems a bit extreme to me. Maybe if I was trying to finance a $250000 house, but paying for a $100 cover with a credit card???

    Thoughts?

We only ask for the mothers maiden name on sales that require a core return. This is to confirm you have been read or read the sales agreement.

The sales agreement states that the core must be returned within 2 weeks and if there are damages there can be additional charges. We confirm this sales agreement by asking for the Mothers maiden name. Sometimes a customer does not want to supply the info so we ask for the year they graduated college, favorite sports team, or dog's name, ETC....

    Jeremy, thanks for the reply.

I guess then I am a bit disappointed in the sales guy that I talked to, as he did not offer up any of those alternatives. I went ahead and canceled my order as he gave me no choice.

I guess while I have your attention I have one more question. The valve cover has 4 heli coils for the carb mounts. Is that considered additional damage?

Sorry about that. We have a few new people who are still learning. I will make sure they understand in the AM.

I am not sure about the heli coils on a rotary cover. I'll check with our production in the morning and let you know.

Jeremy. Did you ever get a chance to talk to the right people about returning a rotary valve cover with heli-coils as a core?

Yes is the heli coil on the manifold or directly onto the cover? All pieces must be removed from the rotary valve cover. If it's on the rotary cover it should be fine. If it's on the manifold, we dont require that piece to come back as part of the core.
