Jim's races are not IJSBA sanction.

The Seadoo 800s and Polaris 785s run in our sport class simply because there are only 2-3 at each race. They did have their own class one year when there were 6-7 of them. Racing with less than 5 is not much fun.

Re: Sport Spec/GP with a twist

It's a shame that the leadership of our sport won't take advantage of the ideas of the people IN the sport. While I love sport spec and loved sport open spec, IMO, the runabout open spec had the potential to be even bigger if it would have been given a chance. All you have to do is throw your leg over one of those 1100 x4s or XIRs or pro1200s to realize how much fun that class could be. I have less than zero ambition to go ride a big four stroke, especially on the track, but those little runabouts in open spec form are about as fun as riding can be on a sit down. I know you guys at the NEWA don't need permission to run that class, but without the support of the governing body, a lot of guys won't invest the limited amount of money it costs to build a ski. My buddy Jeff has a running 1100 x4 that he has less than 2500 bucks in. Yes, he got lucky with parts and he did all the work himself, but even still, just about anyone should be able to build one for under 5K. Throw in the bazzilion x4s with 785s out there into the mix and the potential is huge.

I don't care if they throw the small runabouts in with Sport GP but I think they should be scored separately.
