    Sport Spec/GP with a twist

Most of you guys know that Jimmy & I attended the catalysts for what spawned Sport Spec Class back in 2008. Blaster Limited, which was the McKenna's idea in an attempt to lure sport class guys with old 785 limiteds sitting in their garage, back to the line. What a lot of you may be unaware of is that Kris ( lakeside ) ran a B2 in Blaster Limited that weekend as his B1 was having issues.

So, Wayne & I have been talkig & have decided to allow B2s to race in both NEWA sport classes in 2015. Now, if you have any concerns, please present them in a positive manor. This concept is about building upon both classes.

Anyone who was around in 1996 & witnesses B2s campaigning against XP800s knows that it wasn't even a race. IMO, what should have happened back then is the IJSBA should have revised sport class rule to include the B2 as it only exceeds sport width rules by a 1/2".

We believe that most racers will agree, B2s have no advantage over other sport class hulls, in fact the B2 has a disadvantage in terms of the hydrodynamic drag that it's hull experiences. However, set up properly & raced well, we believe that the B2 will be competitive, not dominant. Also, it will allow for racers who are not comfortable on either a B1, HX or Cane, to race on a more buoyant lean in style sport hull.

Now, we already have both a spec & a GP B2 set up & ready to compete in each class next season. Anyone who would like to set up a B2 for either class next season must adhere to the accordingly existing rules packages for B1s.

Again, this isn't reinventing the wheel, we all know how well both classes have faired. It's about what works best for our racers & the tour. I for one think it's going to work well by allowing another platform to compete.

IMO, good idea. If anything, if you take a b2 and a b1 with equal powerplants, the b1 will be faster. The b2 hull has more drag. But, it would be a good option for folks who are larger and have a hard time boarding b1s and Hxs.

Thanks Scottie - I/we were hoping the concept would be received such as you did.

LOL Dave. But you get it - more skis in the class = better racing.

There was a nice 1200 B2 here in FL that sold for $2500 a couple months ago... if I didn't already have a GP HX, I would've scooped that ski up. B2's already have a 155 pump in them right? So on a short course I bet they would be pretty competitive, not all about top speed. You don't need a 74mph ski to win haha

Good idea. Wish I lived in an area where other people had the guts to line up their sport spec boats. Getting stuck in with the x4s or novice runabout sucks. Anyhow, B2s are fairly plentiful and cheap. Now I need to stop buying them just for the guts and tossing the hulls in the trash.

Yes, dropping a triple yami motor in a B2 is like playing with Legos.
