    Race Logic porting templates

Has anyone out there had any luck with Race Logic porting templates? I'm thinking of purchasing sets for my Kawasaki 800 and 750BP motors.

ive heard of them but never tried them... porting definitely can net huge gains if you know what youre doing.. if you have never done port work before, its definitely something to leave for those that know wht theyre doing and have proper porting tools.. they are pretty pricey too.. to make the most of the port work, you need special bits and a 90 degree fitting to work on the transfers as thats where the most power is to be gained by working the transfer ports... its also very time consuming

Yeah thanks for that, I've been doing a bit of research and I've got all the gear, just know that I can't possibly get a lifetimes worth of porting experience in few years. So I thought I might buy some Race Logic porting templates. Just want to know if anyone out there has tried them?

I believe the Race logic templates are only for the exhaust ports, nothing for the transfer ports.

You might want to check out the home porting thread on x-h2o if you haven't already. Mostly yamaha, but will probably give a good impression of the work involved with their kits.

Good porting tools are expensive. Then you need all of the different bits.

    Re: Race Logic porting templates

for the time and money spent on proper tools for the job, not to mention possibility of making it worse, its best to send your cylinder, spend 350-400 to have it professionally ported. many professional porters have computer programming to help map out the cylinder to your needs.. unless you plan to learn to port often, its best to send it off.. i actually tried to port my cylinder once.. i definitely could tell more power however after close measurement, one jug was wider than the other and one had a taller port height by about a mm. you couldnt tell by just looking either. i ended up getting another cylinder and had chris newmiller port it for me.. he reworked the transfers which is what really makes the power and widened the exhaust ports, literally ported and cleaned up all of the port areas, intake and transfers. and it was less than 400 for the porting. you couldnt buy a good porting tool for that.. the difference between my port job and his power wise isnt even comparable..

Great advice. Thanks for that. Waxhead lives not far from me and has also given me some very good advice.
