What's up....So on my ride Sunday I got popped by the Portsmouth Harbor Patrol.....what an asshole this guy was!! Wrote me $100 ticket for not having my boaters safety card on me!!!

thats some BS, I saw them lingering around where I saw you.

Re: Anyone riding today?
You only need to conform to the laws of the state in which you are registered. In MA, you do not need a boater's safety card.

Re: Anyone riding today?
When the HarborMaster handed me the ticket, I tried to explain that I didn't need one, even though I have one(I left at home), but he didn't listen, it was only his way. So I went to MASS and enjoyed the rest of the day!! I can say on our way back we ran into the Tiverton Harbor Patrol, and this guy was very nice and respectful!!

That is incorrect. To boat in NH waters, you need to conform to NH law, regardless of where the boat or PWC is registered.

It would be an easy loophole for everyone to use if they merely need to register the boat in a state that does not require a safety curse.

Looks like the carbon copy didn't line up, is all.
But, if you did take an approved course, plead not guilty, and bring proof you took the course to the judge. My guess is that you are in violation of NH law by failing to possess the card, but perhaps he or she will cut down the fine or outright dismiss. Is it worth a shot?
