2015 Dells Raffle Ski Discussion Thread - ANOTHER SUPER JET???

Yep, the 3rd Annual 2014 Wisconsin Dells Freeride ended just one week ago, and I'm already well into the process of building the 2015 Dells Raffle Ski, another Yamaha Super Jet. I actually bought this ski on the last Saturday in December, just before New Years - and the really interesting thing is that it looks like I've already lined up another ski for the 2016 raffle - though I won't be spilling the beans on what make/model that ski will be just yet, more on that later...

Anyhow, for right now I'll post the "before" pics of the 2015 raffle SJ, and I'll follow up with the story and what I need to now beg for.

Re: 2015 Dells Raffle Ski Discussion Thread - ANOTHER SUPER JET???

    The good:
    1) I actually nabbed this ski out from under our very own Wisconsin village idiot (no need to mention names), so it will get restored and wind up in a good home, versus parted and pitched.
    2) It's a very solid hull. Don't let the brushed on paint fool you.
    3) I already have a couple volunteers to help me with the labor.
    4) It came with a Coffman's Sizzler, OP Steering Nozzle, and R&D Pro-Series Intake Grate, but I sold those parts to help fund what I'll need to make it a solid, running ski again.
    5) The pump is in nice shape.
    6) The midshaft seems to be in decent shape.
    7) The "hole" that someone "drilled" (apparently with a small axe) in the side of the hull for the Bayliner bilge fitting will be easy to patch up.

    The bad:
    1) The pictures don't do the paint justice, it is WAY worse in person. It really is brushed on.
    2) The family of chipmunks that were living inside this SJ probably didn't survive the 1-hour December ride home to my garage.
    3) There is about 4 inches of side to side slop in the handlepole pivot, but I have a trick for fixing that .

    Parts I know I need:
    1) SJ long gas tank strap = Reed, you still have that one for me, right?
    2) SJ short exhaust hose.
    3) Battery.
    4) Handlepole bushings.
    5) Steering nozzle.
    6) Waterbox.
    7) Nosepiece/fuel door.
    8) ALMOST FORGOT - I need the handlepole pad mounting bracket. Notice in the pic that the one of the left side is ripped out and missing. I can fab one up if needed, but if you've got a trashed SN handlepole, I'd sure appreciate getting one (or both) of the pad brackets.

Parts that would be nice to have:
    1) Rhaas motor mounts.
    2) Blowsion nosepiece.
    3) Blowsion handlepole spring.
    4) Blowsion 4 degree h-bars.
    5) 6m6 engine gasket set.
    6) 44SBN rebuild kit.

Obviously, the motor isn't pretty and it came from a 650LX. The seller couldn't tell me much for sure, as this SJ had sat for at least a couple years. He thought it might need a starter, but he was honest enough to advertise it as a project. It spins over smooth by hand, but I haven't hooked up a battery yet. If it needs a crank, I have a couple good used ones. If it needs a top end, I've got a spare good one. I have plenty of OEM exhaust systems. I have several good 650 heads, the one-piece kind, so getting ride of the goofy two-piece LX head won't be a problem. I have 19 days before my annual family vacation, so I'm hoping to get the motor investigated before then.

Anyhow, so in order to stay WAY ahead of the game for 2015, please consider this the official "begging for parts and discussion thread" for the 2015 Dells Raffle Ski. ALL comments are welcomed and encouraged. I'm completely open to ideas right now. More than anything I just want to get all the parts I'll be using to build it sooner than later. I'm actually hoping/planning to have the restored/repainted hull back to me by Labor Day, so that I can actually get it assembled this fall. Sound like a plan, right?

    1) Rhaas motor mounts.
    3) Blowsion handlepole spring.
    4) Blowsion 4 degree h-bars.

I will take care of the above Paul. Also, will a stock Blaster steering nozzle work?

It is the least I can do Paul. You put in a lot of hard work so we can come and have a good time up there year after year. Black or silver Bars? Add the steering nozzle to my list then too. I just have to find it now, lol.

It's only work if you're not enjoying it .

Black bars would be my preference.

Thanks. I may take you up on it.

Do you have any 61x cylinders that are basically cores?
