Hero Save Drowning Family with his Jet Ski

    VIDEO: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-n...-speed-3213636

This is the dramatic moment a family-of-five were saved from drowning by a hero firefighter - on a jet ski.

Fearless Marcelo dos Santos pulled the two adults and three children to safety after spotting them get into difficulty as they swam off the coast of Brazil's breathtaking White Beach.

The whole rescue mission in Bertioga, near Sao Paolo, was caught on a helmet cam dos Santos was wearing and it shows him speeding out to the stricken family reaching them just in time.

The footage shows brave dos Santos brave the treacherous surf twice to rescue the family.

In the first successful attempt he has to jump off the jet ski and tilt the vessel so the three children can clamber aboard before being rushed to shallow waters.

The firefighter drops off his thankful passengers before crashing over high-rolling waves to collect the parents who are struggling to keep their heads above water.

Incredibly, dos Santos jumps into the water for a second time to help the drowning pair and pushes them onto his jet ski before heading back to shore.

Man sentenced to 4 Years prison for Jet Ski collision death

    http://www.cbsnews.com/news/man-gets...shers-stepson/

GAINESVILLE, Ga. - The Atlanta man convicted in a jet ski crash that killed the stepson of R&B singer Usher has been ordered to serve four years in prison.

Jeffrey Hubbard was sentenced Wednesday in the death of 11-year-old Kile Glover. Hubbard was riding on the jet ski that hit the boy and another child in an inner tube on Lake Lanier northeast of Atlanta in summer 2012.

Glover died days after the crash.

Hubbard was convicted last month of homicide by vessel, serious injury by vessel, reckless operation of a vessel, unlawful operation of a personal watercraft and a boat traffic violation.

During his trial, Hubbard's attorney argued the crash was a tragic accident and that recklessness didn't factor into Glover's death.

Glover was the son of Usher's former wife Tameka Foster.

CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Some South Bay residents are wondering whom to call when it is a local police officer they want to complain about.

Chula Vista resident John Schuricht told 10News that his neighbor, Chula Vista police Officer Rick Rhodes, has left 11 Jet Skis in front of his house for almost two weeks. He said they violate three city codes besides just being an eyesore.

    Riding after dark...

NC deputy, woman die in jet ski accident

ELIZABETHTOWN, N.C. — A Robeson County sheriff’s deputy and a woman both died in a jet ski accident on the Cape Fear River near Elizabethtown on Wednesday.

Authorities said the victims were identified as Thomas Bradley Carter, 30, and Charlotte Paige McLellan, 27.

The accident took place near the Lock and Dam 2. Carter had worked as a sheriff’s deputy for more than three years.

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.

Ofc. Clarence White with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission says investigators believe the accident happened sometime after dark on Wednesay. It is illegal to operate a jet ski outside of the hours between sun up and sundown, White said.

White says a family member reported the victims missing around 9 a.m.

2 hospitalized in jet ski crash on Lake Norman

    http://www.wcnc.com/news/2-hospitali...260674551.html

MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Two jet skiers were taken to the hospital Memorial Day, after an accident on Lake Norman near Strawpocket Lane.

Rescue crews are trying to figure out what happened in the incident that sent both people the hospital. One was airlifted for more serious injuries, according to crews on the ground.

Charlotte Fire Fighter Peter Darlington and a group of other fire fighters, nurses and EMT workers were on the lake together for the holiday and saw the jet skis floating without anyone on them. They pulled their boat around and found the jet skiers hanging on to the sides.

“We jumped in the water and used a pontoon boat to get the patient on his back and bring him over here,” he said as he pointed to the dock.

Darlington says both men appeared to be in their 20s. He did not believe their injuries were life threatening.

Darlington’s daughter is studying to become a nurse. Brittany Darlington said the hardest part of the rescue was stabilizing the men in the water. They were able to use towels and buoys from the boat to help get the two injured parties to safety.

Body of Dallas man recovered at Cedar Creek Lake

    http://www.khou.com/news/texas-news?...&fDomain=10247

TOOL, Texas — Texas Parks and Wildlife recovered the body of a man who likely drowned at Cedar Creek Lake Saturday afternoon.

Friends identify him as Robert George, a regular on Cedar Creek Lake, and a well loved Orthodontist who operated a practice in Garland. He also had family connections to Boy Scout Troop 890 out of Lake Highlands.

Boaters spotted George on a personal watercraft late Saturday afternoon.

"We can attest to the fact that someone saw a person on that particular Jet Ski around 4:45 p.m.," said Capt. Mike Hanson with TP&W Law Enforcement.

It was what another group saw later that has them worried.

"Some folks that were on the lake actually witnessed the Jet Ski running at idle, and turning around in circles on the lake," he said.

The Henderson County Sheriff says a life jacket was found on that Jet Ski. George's body will be sent for an autopsy.

Cedar Creek Lake is located 60 miles southeast of Dallas.

Tipp City Graduate's Body Recovered After Jet Ski Malfunctions

TIPP CITY -- Tipp City officers say a 19-year old man was jet skiing on private property near the 7000 block of Tipp-Canal Road.

Authorities say his jet ski malfunctioned around 6:00 pm Sunday. Witnesses then saw him jump off the jet ski and into the water, but he went under and did not come back.

Police say the body of water is a stone quarry about 12 feet deep.

Tipp City, Huber Heights, Vandalia, and Butler Township Fire Departments are helping Tipp City Police and Miami County's
Sheriff's Office search for the man.

Since it is boating season, officers are reminding people to take safety precautions while on the water like wearing life jackets.

UPDATE: A Tippecanoe High School graduate died Sunday after a tragic accident in a quarry.

Rescue crews pulled the body of 19-year-old Kyle Quinn from the water. Officials say he recently graduated from Tippecanoe High School.

The man got into trouble around 6 p.m. Sunday near the 7000 block of Tipp Canal Road. Police say the jet ski he was operating malfunctioned. Witnesses say he then got off the jet ski and went into the water, resurfaced, then went back under and never came up.

Crews from Huber Heights, Vandalia, Butler Township, and the Miami County Sheriff's Office searched for his body for more than four hours. Four boats were in the water, and two have sonar equipment.

With warmer weather, lots of people will be on the water, so officers are reminding people o be extra careful.

"With boating season, wear those life jackets and always keep everyone safe within your watercraft," said Sgt. Marc Basye, with Tipp City Police.

This all happened on private property at a stone quarry about 12 feet deep.
