    My first stand up was this 89' 650SX and my first project for that matter. I learned how to ride on this one and enjoyed every minute of it. It wasn't long before I sold it but looking back on it now I wish I would have kept it. We all have to move on eventually tho.

    Thanks! Yup, that's off a boat wake. As for what I'm running, it's nothing too special. Compression is up a bit, and I modified the pipe cooling to run a little warmer. I built a trim system using parts from an X2 and increased the steering angle. Footholds, new turf, and fresh paint to finish it off.

    my 93 mint condition only has around 50 hours & my 89 freestyle /surf build ,this age old idea still has me *ucked why people dont like these skis ,my mates ride modded SJs , when we play we play hard & my 650 sx skis are right out there with the best of them , i just think people dont understand how to get the best from them (leave most 440/550 rolling in the surf ) .. admit i have never been into the racing always surf and freestyle ,but i have freind that can punch my 89 sx around a bouy course as fast as needed to be out there on race day """ if there was a class for vintage here in AU ....

    I love mine. She's faster out of the hole than my stock 09 superjet no lie. But then again she has every bolt on and is running 190psi

    My 89. Running a 90 something small pin 750 ported, 180 psi, kerker pipe. Custom rear exhaust, foot holds. And a few fiber glass mods here and there.
    It runs with the sxrs no problem. And makes my friends 701 super jet seem like a slug.

    The 650 does serve a purpose....handles the rough water better and gives you longer range. With the 550's we usually have to ditch fuel somewhere along our route. Our outings are generally not short local hops...here's pics of mine.

    Has anyone tried to backflip or roll their 650? Want to put a pair of foot straps on and try one off of a V wake. I can backflip on my bmx bike Is it any thing like a bike?
