BEWARE ROSCOMAN11 promised low hour motor, selling bad motors.

Bad Luck buying a motor from FORUM MEMBER

I had a bad experience here buying a Polaris 1200 motor from a member that goes by ROSCOMAN11. He had sent pics of compression tests in every cylinder that were 150/150/152 looked great. pics were outside so I asked if it had been kept outside answer was no, I asked if the motor had been fogged good, answer was yes. He said it had original Polaris pistons in it and had NEVER been opened & only 40 hours on it and was asking $1000 so I offered $900 & payed him that day & it took almost 2 weeks to get the motor from him which I didn't really trip on (( packing & shipping problems he said he had to strip the motor down to lighten it coupler flywheel casing etc.) Anyways when I get the motor it was shipped in an old bathroom trash can & crank end had been banged up pretty good, but was okay. I pull it out and looks ok, but when I spin the crank the crank only rotates about an inch in either direction. I'm pissed already upon further investigation I see there is so much rust in the cylinders that the rings are sticking! How could you take the coupler off and not notice this ???! So after I talk to him he sends a jug ok cool now Im honing all cylinders and buying a master gasket kit that he refused to pay for. I soaked the bottom end in Marvel mystery oil for 2 weeks and it didn't smooth out so I split the cases to find that every bearing on the crank except 1 was completly shot!!! Also had skid marks from rod bearings. I sent him the video of it and he apologizes and says he will send a crank for parts but never does, and refuses to, then says hes broke blah blah blah. If he cant afford to do business rite & take care of your customer you shouldnt be doing it ! I own my own business and sometimes you loose that just it learn from your mistakes and move on. Says will send 2 bearings but never does like that will do any good. The whole reason I bought this motor was because I thought it was in excellent condition and that I could just drop it rite in and save some work till later as I am in the middle of building a PSI triple pipe SLX at the moment. I could have rebuilt the crank ( shortblocksrus.com ) & bored & bought Wiseco pistons for my motor & would have had $ left over. anyways this dude sucks all I bought was parts SO BEWARE OF THIS CHARACTOR !!

    Ken

Now I have 2 motors to be built !

That pretty much sucks,He had to know what was gonna happen once you got the motor,I'm not even gonna ask how you paid for it or how long it's been.I don't think i would of touch a thing after it wouldn't rotate. But you proably sent the money as a gift, So your chit out of luck. Thanks for the heads up though.

Did you pay as a gift? If not just start a dispute on paypal. It takes time and you will be on the hook for return shipping, but at least youll get a few $$ back.

Thanks for outing another lefty loosey only no knowledge parts slinger!

Yeah that motor looks squeaky clean on the outside but awful on the inside. Thats why I don't buy used motors. For what most people charge for them, you can do a full rebuild on one and KNOW that what you are getting is good.

If you want to identify a bad seller, then please identify the seller.

Full name and address, phone numbers, email (especially the Paypal ID)

Forum usernames are not enough info. There are other watercraft forums and other selling venues, a single person can have many usernames.

Beware of members for whom the majority of their posts are related to selling stuff. Especially people who have only recently joined the forum. Always review the posting history and contact others who have previously done business with the seller.

If you don't have a good feeling about the seller
the item does not matter. Look elsewhere.

^^ what he said esp holds true on motors. Its the main reason I rarely sell complete motors; unless you tear it down you never know if there is a bearing about to fail.

Let me add, I have sold a couple good used engines, and also bought a couple. An honest person has no problem with pulling heads and taking internal pics. If you can't get them to at least pull the head/s, something is probably fishy.
