I live in Hartland now, and hoping to get a ski again this year. Just looking for something cheap like a 650sx to play around on. I ride Lake Beulah as my grand parents had a place on it, big lake never had an issue with DNR or Police.
What does the DNR give you issues for?
DNR depends on the lake. Some of the waukesha lakes now have that ridiculous "repititous course" law, and they'll watch for that. Generally, they're just looking to ticket for riding too close or making wake too close to shore.

Yeah, I'm an @sshole, but I'm not a complete @sshole.
Just need a ski! lol Seems like everyone I find is that dirk guy everyone says to stay away from.
Yep, you just gotta get out of bed before dipsh!tdirk buys everything and immediately relists it for more moneywithout actually doing anything to improve it or add value.
Come to the dells freeride this year and next year = the next 2 raffle skis will be super jets.

You think they might consider getting inverted off of a boat wake reckless behaviour?

When I got my one and only ticket about 4 years ago, that's exactly what the cop tried to do. I said, "well, I've been riding exactly like this for over 15 years without incident, when exactly did it become wreckless?" I also explained that, if he wrote me for wreckless, I'd show up in court with a video of how I ride, demonstrating the precise control I always maintain, and ask the court to offer their definition of "wreckless".
The cop quckly recanted his claim that I was wreckless and just wrote me for riding too close - which I was (3' off the stern of my neighbor's master craft), then I went to court and got it reduced anyhow - as an otherwise law abiding and tax paying long term resident of the community.
Not to get this off topic, but is a 650sx my best bang for the buck? Just looking to get out and ride after work and some weekends. Looking to spend as little as possible. My other thoughts were an X2 but I have never ridden one.

A properly set up 650sx isn't terrible. I can understand, in today's climate of no super jets for sale, while @holes like me have 5 or 6, while almost never riding 2 or 3 of them - that buying a 650sx starts to look like a legit option. Just don't spend more than $400-500 on one, or you're just helping to drive up the price on them as well - just like sjs . Let all those guys with $900-$1900 kawis 650sxs sit and wait a while. If you can't find a sj in the meantime, you'll eventually find a kawi seller who meanders back to reality.
Oh, a properly set up 650sx has a shortened handlepole, decent handlebars, finger throttle, good prop, good intake grate, good ride plate, 44sbn, and some decent power.
