    Sea Doo xp vs Waveblaster

Thinking of either getting a Sea-Doo xp or a Waveblaster. How do they compare? Which is lighter?

I'd definetely get a WB1 over a xp. There are sooo many more things you can do with the WB1. Everything from a 650 to a 760 will bolt right in, then there are some really nice conversion kits to put the yamaha 11 or 1200 in and then theres the popular kawi 1100 swap. Stupid power w/o losing reliability. I do admit I do like the xp and spx 800s but I have had terrible luck with seadoo electronics.

waveblaster. As long as it's not a III. WBI would be a very satisfying ski for a young fella.

I would say ride them both and decide for yourself. Both ski's are fun. The WB1 is kinda awkward feeling (IMO). It also makes my hands go numb for some reason. If I was to choose I would go for the xp. But that's me. You might love a blaster. You can launch on both just fine.

To answer the weight difference question, I think the WB1 is gonna be slightly lighter than the xp. The xp's also got slightly heavier through the years with the different generations, as did the waveblaster when the II came out. If you can ride both, then decide, that would be ideal. Being a Yami guy, I gotta vote WB! Or, better yet, find a late season deal on both on a double trailer!

Mechanically the 61x WB is simple, reliable, and requires very little maintenance, but this comes at the expense of low power output. The seadoo 787 (I assume you won't bother with the 650 and 720 variants) is slightly more complicated (power valves, rotary valve) and sensitive to neglect/poor tuning but it trumps the 701 in power by a large margin. In fact, modding a 701 to get it in the ballpark isn't even worth the investment (B pipe, carbs, rev limiter, head, porting, reliability nose-dives, etc) which is why most simply opt for the kawi 1100 swap, which is not an inexpensive endeavor either.
