Excess grease will come out under the ski by the bearing. I think it was around 500 dollars in 2004 to fix. You need to do this anyway.

    What kind of grease should I use?

    Dont know if this helps or if im too late, but i use green grease. Works well for me. Also i just replaced my tru hull bearings in my 2005 r-12x. What happened in my case was that when my pump bearing went out, it allowed to my drive shaft to wobble wearing out the tru hull bearing. So after a complete rebuild of the pump with a solas impeller, i still found that i need new bearings in the tru hull carrier. When i took them out, they were full of rust, after all i do ride in salt and the ski is 8 years old.

    After a dealer replaced my bearings they used a Seadoo grease in mine. So now I use the same.
