    Is a 650 REALLY that much better than a minor-ly modded 550js?

I have a js550 that has coffman half pipe, 40mm carb, milled head, ported exhaust ports, mariner intake, racing intake grate, skat trak impeller. maybe forgetting some? its pretty quick and all, but im looking for a little more speed and power (not funded enough for a newer 701 quite yet) but still...i havent ridden a good-running 650sx yet and I was wondering... Is it REALLY worth making a switch to sell my 550, and go for a 650? or will i be dissapointed with power and top speed? Everyones opinions greatly appreciated!

You will be dis-appointed with the ride quality, if you are happy with the 550 hull.

I would bet you'll have to put some work into the 650 to beat your set-up on power as well (easily doable, and in-expensive to bump initially).

Paople do conversions, with the 650 into the 550 hull; do a search and read some happy campers...

I would research the conversion option.

Try a 650 first, I love mine but mine has a lot of money dropped on it. Remember when looking for a ski that most of them probably won't be as well maintained as your 550.

go for the conversion, then you have the best off both! Switching from a modded 550 to a stock 650 is a disappointment!

If you like the 550 hull then the 650 will feel like a boat. Put a 750 in your 550 and you will never have to look back...

The SX's are fun but feel heavy and your ski is probably more powerful (power to weight ratio). As stated, if you like the ride of the 550 the 650 will feel like a freighter. Doing a conversion (650/750 engine in your 550 hull) will change the ride a little too but not in a negative way and the added power makes the 550 hull a blast.
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

550 is much lighter and nimble. the 650 is a turd-ski. poor handling... sell that engine and all the parts and buy a doner boner 750 ski for engine and drop kick the hull
